The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD. Today we wrap up with Isaiah’s description of the Holy Spirit. We’re looking at the SEVENTH description, namely the “Spirit of the fear of the Lord”. The Holy Spirit is our connection with God. He’s the One who makes us see our sins and feel regret, who frees us of the prison of self-righteousness and defensiveness. He frees us from the lie that says: “I did nothing wrong”, or “I’m not a worse person than the rest of them”, and then leads us into the truth of God that says: “Lord, be merciful to me, a sinner”. He’s the one who convinces us of justice and judgement. Yes, He’s the One who weakens our knees to worship God, in complete surrender. He’s the One who takes hold of our hearts and lives, and He begins the transformation process of rebirth. He’s the one who makes us long for God when He calls from within us: Abba! Father! He’s the one who makes us grow spiritually, and then, one day, He’ll present us, fully mature, before God with great joy. Friend, you need the Spirit! Spirit of the fear of the Lord – draw me closer to God. Amen. You are to welcome to bless others by forwarding this message. Subscription to By the Way is free at © 2009 Jimi le Roux
