Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. Jam 1:27 ESV
All true believers belong to the body of Christ, his CHURCH. He knows who they are – it’s not our task to make final decisions on that! The church offers the advantages of spiritual community, healthy teaching and good leadership. It also offers mutual care. Remember that the church is like a family – and family looks after each other! Scripture often says – as here – that we have a duty to care for one another. If one member suffers, the whole body suffers! We all need to contribute therefore, in one or other way, to the care of those who need it most. Make the sacrifice, therefore, be involved – do it for Jesus! You can also, one day, find yourself in a time of need. Then your brothers and sisters will stand by you – that’s how the church must work! If you withdraw from the body, though, you’re on your own in every respect. That is sad!
Lord Jesus, thank you for a spiritual family. Teach me to be a true brother, a true sister! Amen.
Be a true brother, a true sister!
