"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Mat 5:14-15 ESV
It’s important to realize that faith is a process. It’s not just a question of unbelievers suddenly becoming believers! No, there is more to it. By nature people are far from God. Some know very little about him – what they do know is not felt to have any personal relevance. Some might feel positive about God, but have no desire to serve him as such. Some do want to turn their lives to God, but do not know how. Sometimes there is a whole period – often as children – that we make decisions for Christ, but cannot start growing as disciples. We remain immature – much growing still needs to take place. Do you see? Not every person with whom we speak about Christ is ready for conversion! Discern where people are, spiritually, and just help them to take the next step. Provide insight, give an answer, show love, pray together, encourage them or with God’s grace: lead them to Christ!
Holy Spirit, give me the discernment to realize where people are on their spiritual journey – and the wisdom to react to them appropriately. Amen.
Be sensitive to where people are!
