But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. 2 Pet 3:18 ESV
What is our calling? Well, starting at the basics, we need to succeed at establishing ourselves in this world. Yes, it’s our calling to live healthy lives and work hard. Don’t think of this as less spiritual or less important. If the basics are not in place, nothing more can happen! Then we need to grow up emotionally. It’s vitally important to know ourselves, to become mature, to integrate the past constructively, to manage our emotions. Otherwise God cannot use us! Ultimately we need to grow spiritually. We believe that all should find salvation in Jesus Christ and then grow and change to become like Him, the Master. This happens in two steps:
- we learn the THEORY of the spiritual life by reading the Word, in sermons and Christian material and in our personal prayer life, and then
- we PRACTICE what we’ve learned in our everyday life. There, at work or in our relationships our spirituality is tested. The true spiritual growth is there!
We still need to grow spiritually! Do it both ways…
Holy Spirit, make me spiritually more mature. Teach me to believe, to pray, to listen and to obey, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Take responsibility for your spirituality!
