The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. Psalm 19:1-2 ESV
We as Christians also live a worldly life, in some respects, because we so easily become an uncritical part of our culture. It just happens. Materialism and consumerism become our lifestyle without us even realizing it. We are daily flooded by messages to buy, buy and buy! We often forget that we’re called to live a different lifestyle, being salt and light, changing the world for the better. Our lifestyle changes may include reducing our consumption and reusing more products. Another thing we can do is to RECYCLE. Products made from paper, plastic, glass or metals can be recycled and reused – especially plastic must be recycled as much as possible. Recycling reduces the load on the environment that is already taking strain, while millions more are annually joining those who use electricity, drive cars and consume modern products. There are nowadays Christians who deliberately live a modest lifestyle, embracing the “Discipline of Simplicity”, just for the Lord’s sake. What a testimony, what love!
Lord Jesus, you travelled lightly and simply through the world. Help me to make the choices you would have made! Amen.
Change your lifestyle!
